I'm short on funds.
I wrote a piece a time back for another forum. Thought I could just copy/ paste it here, and see how you like it CC, but doing so makes my head hurt... thinking about some things just isn't good for me.
heart ache... what I do, forget about it
Tell me what you think...
me I'm getting stoned,
G-us!
Makes one think before casting, but people do what people do...
not thinking before they throw.
play on words, ramble, run!
mind altering drugs? wish I had, had not... time already done.
Back to topic (before I'm gone);
What do you think of "re buys"?
Do you go all out, play till your busted?
Here's what I think about it:
Take it if you can do so from the start. OK, Let me clarify this a bit.
You buy in for $1 to $3 plus the Vig. lets say. You get 1,000 chips, the pay off is $1,000 to the top 20 finishers (about $300 for 1 st.)
You may take a re buy and have an additional 1,000 chips for the same $1/$3 at the start. Take the extra chips! After the first hour of play you can Add On! Get either 1,000 or 2,000 in chips for the same amount as a re buy and that's it no chance to reload from here on out.
If you have to go bust before you can re buy, forget about it!
Quit, if after your first re buy you bust and the high stack is 20x your best, and the top 20 players have 10x your re buy.
In other words don't waste more money if you have no chance of taking a money spot. I've seen people take as high as 15 re buys and never have a stack bigger than 2,000 chips.
Don't get me wrong, it makes for a bigger payday when you make the money, but come on.
personally I don't have pockets that deep do you?
On the other side of the coin I have to admit that some times people get lucky, do break even, and if you finish first place once in a hundred... well your a winner!
Heck, what am I saying, of course you do, that's why you play poker on line, after all what's $50 for a chance to win $300, right!
Remember folks don't gamble with love or money! If you can't afford to lose it, forget about it!
with that said,
good luck out there!

yeah i hate rebuy tournies because when you knock a player out, it always seems that the same playaer rebuys and ends up killing your stack later on in the tourney. Plus the add on part is wack as well. you got a chip lead then after the break you dont got it anymore.

It all depends on how many people are in the tourny and how much it cost. I used to not like them at all, but I have come to enjoy them in limited play.

I don't mind rebuys. I just know that I have to play extra tight for the first hour. Then if I get my money in with the best hand and I know I made a good play, I'm happy. If some psycho sucks out 2 pair or a 4 card straight/flush, at least I still have a shot to get back in.

The key to getting back in though, is that I really have to play only premium hands and hope i have a good enough read on my table that i know who is going to call me down with rags.

I'm not a huge fan of them. If it is a limited rebuy situations I think it is okay. Unlimited just creates a donkfest.
